Overview
The NetStor WSS 8211 NAS storage appliance is a 2U rack mount storage server. It is configured with 12 hot-swappable SAS or SATA-II drive bays powered by the industry standard Windows Storage Server 2008 operating system engine. In additional to its maximum 24TB capacity, the 8211 can be expanded with JBODs to a maximum of 216TB. This gives the 8211 the ability to scale and meet the storage needs of almost any growing business.
ISCSI
In addition, the 8211 is equipped with iSCSI Target SAN capabilities. This makes the 8211 able to satisfy SAN block-level functionality making the NeStor WSS 8211 a perfect choice for those customers needing both NAS and iSCSI SAN functionality.

Windows Storage Server 2008
The NetStor WSS 8211 is powered by the industry standard Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 which is an optimized release of the reliable and flexible file services of Windows Server 2008 for better file serving performance. Microsoft then adds Single Instance Storage (SIS) de-duplication and an iSCSI software target capabilities for unified file and block-based storage which you cannot get on a standard Windows Server. The combination of standard Windows interface and easy to use RAID configuration creates a simple to manage storage solution.
JDOB Expansion
The NetStor WSS 8211 allows for the expansion to five (5) total chassis (including the raid header). The 8211 is expandable to a maximum capacity of 216TB. Because JBODs don’t require any of the expensive hardware RAID controllers, motherboards, OS licenses, processors, or memory you can expand your storage much more cost effectively compared to continually adding NAS servers to your network.
